Management 3.0
Management 3.0
What is Management 3.0?
Management 3.0 is an innovative solution for leaders who are managing talent in agile environments. It is not a framework, but a mindset: a combination of tools, games, and practices that help manage people and the teams that form an organization.
Developed from leadership guru Jurgen Appelo’s first book, Management 3.0 was born from the idea that management should be entering a third phase of maturity. The first phase being Management 1.0, a command and control style of leadership that utilizes a top-down approach, and the second being Management 2.0, an advancement in the realization that people are value assets but one that is still in a very hierarchical structure.
This third phase of Management 3.0 is based on the premise that the management of an organization is too important to be left just to managers. The best approach is to manage the systems, not the people so that, ultimately, everyone is a leader and contributes to their organization’s success.
Management 3.0 is a development model and movement for innovation in leadership. In addition to its basic foundations of Management and Leadership and Complexity Thinking, Management 3.0 is based on a set of six organizational views: Energize People, Empower Teams, Align Constraints, Develop Competence, Grow Structure, and Improve Everything.
