But, in recent years, nothing has undergone a more <strong>rapid transformation<\/strong>, as Satya Nadella (CEO of Microsoft) points out, than the way we work.<\/p><p>Before the pandemic, in 2019, and it seems like a lifetime ago, we knew how to <strong>work effectively from the office<\/strong>. In fact, 90% of us did (according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mckinsey.com\/capabilities\/people-and-organizational-performance\/our-insights\/what-executives-are-saying-about-the-future-of-hybrid-work\">Mckinsey&#8217;s report, &#8220;What executives are saying about the future of hybrid work&#8221;<\/a>).<\/p><p>During the pandemic, we learned to work remotely, as well as to do it <strong>effectively or productively<\/strong> (according to some reports, such as Microsoft&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/d1c25a6gwz7q5e.cloudfront.net\/reports\/2020-11-09-workplace-whitepaper-FINAL.pdf%22%20\/t%20%22_blank\">&#8220;Building resilience &amp; maintaining innovation in a hybrid world&#8221;<\/a>).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3bfc562 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"3bfc562\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">As from 2022, in general, the majority of companies will have started the \"return to the office\". The ability to focus and be productive, along with the <strong>autonomy of remote work<\/strong>, but also the ability to cultivate a sense of belonging and shape the <strong>company culture<\/strong> that comes with working together face-to-face. The <strong>balance<\/strong> of these two approaches of working through flexible presence policies and the rapid development of technology makes it theoretically possible to achieve these benefits.<\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0067fb0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0067fb0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>However, we are still learning how to make the most of this new way of working. As we want to represent on this <span style=\"color: #009ee0;\">Transformation Sketch<\/span>, in this humble tribute to the great Francisco Ib\u00e1\u00f1ez, who passed away in July 2023, <strong>companies should reflect<\/strong> on what is the right balance for each specific context between remote and face-to-face work. It is not just a matter of establishing a quota of office days per week, but of ensuring that both the time in the office and the time at home are <strong>as productive as possible for the individual and for the company<\/strong>.<\/p><p>And this requires a complete redefinition of <strong>what we understand by productivity in the workplace<\/strong>. As Satya Nadella again points out, <span style=\"color: #009ee0;\">&#8220;We need to define productivity much more broadly, including collaboration, learning and wellness to drive the career advancement of every worker.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The world continues to change and it is up to every one of us to keep adapting to it.
