Introduction

The accelerated a pace of innovation in the current IT market is driving the demand for greater cost efficiency. Unfortunately, this can be a difficult goal to achieve with traditional software development methods. A shift has been made towards Agile methodologies that allow for continuous evolution. No matter the industry, there is a need to apply these new agile methods to significantly reduce the costs associated with poor customer requirements and expectations management.

The PMI® Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP®) certification responds to this need, in order to understand the techniques, tools and knowledge that are used in agile environments for each of the areas of competence. From the development teams to senior officers, the certification also promotes the practices of the most used methodologies such as SCRUM, Kanban, DSDM or XP.

  • Be prepared to sit for the PMI® Agile Certified Practitioner® certification exam

Student Profile

Project directors, product owners, agile masters, analysts and team members who use or plan to use agile development methods and, in general, any professional who is interested in obtaining the PMI-ACP® certification.

Prerequisites

While is it is recommended that students have participated in software projects for a minimum of 3 years, there is no prerequisite to attend this course. Additionally, PMI® maintains the following minimum work requirements for those seeking to obtain the PMI-ACP® certification:

  • Secondary diploma (highs school diploma, associate’s degree or global equivalent)
  • 2,000 hours (12 months) of general project experience working on teams earned within the last 3 years (a current PMP® or PgMP® will satisfy this requirement but is not required)
  • 1,500 hours (8 months) working on agile project teams or with agile methodologies earned within the last 3 years (in addition to the 2,000 hours of general project experience)
  • 21 hours of education in agile practices

Course Materials

Each student will receive a copy of the course documentation prepared by Netmind, Mike Griffiths PMI-ACP® Exam Prep book, and access to Whizlabs Exam Simulator.

Methodology

Engaging and interactive face-to-face course. Our instructors teach all course materials using the demonstrative method; the participants learn new concepts through exercises and real application practices.

Certification

This course covers the 21 hours of agile practices training required by PMI® to sit for the PMI-ACP® exam.

This course prepares students for the PMI-ACP® certification exam (not included in the course). The following steps to obtain certification are:

  1. Complete the application on the PMI® website: pmi.org
  2. PMI®will respond within five days, accepting the application if the candidate is deemed appropriate
  3. Submit your certification requirements audit materials within 90 days
  4. Pay exam fee*
  5. Request the exam date and time through the exam administrator, Pearson VUE

*Once the exam fee is paid, the candidate has one year to complete the exam. Within this year, the candidate can take the exam up to three times. The examination fee covers only the first attempt. The second and third attempts will incur reexamination fees. If the candidate does not pass examination in three attempts within the one-year period, they must wait one year from the date of the last attempt to re-apply for certification. These conditions are subject to change.

Exam Details

  • Format: Multiple Choice
  • Delivery: In-person or online, administered by Pearson VUE
  • Cost: $435 for members; $495 for non-members / 2nd and 3rd attempts are $335 for members and $395 for non-members
  • Duration: Once the exam begins candidates have 3 hours to complete the exam
  • Number of Questions: 120
  • Language: English, Arabic, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish

Accreditation

A certificate of attendance will be issued to students who attend the course for at least 75% of the duration.
