Introduction
This course covers the core elements of Microsoft 365 business administration: Microsoft 365 tenant and service management, Office 365 administration, Microsoft 365 identity management, Microsoft 365 security management, and Microsoft 365 compliance manager. In service and tenant management, you will learn how to configure your Microsoft 365 tenant, including your organization profile, tenant subscription options, component services, user accounts and licenses, and security groups. You will also learn how to manage your tenant, which includes the configuration of tenant roles and the management of the health of tenant services.
With your Microsoft 365 tenant firmly in place, you will examine the key components of Office 365 administration. You will then move on to Office 365 configuration, with a primary focus on configuring Office client connectivity. Finally, you will examine how to manage Microsoft 365 applications for business implementations (formerly Office 365 ProPlus), from user-driven client installations to centralized implementations.
It will continue with an in-depth examination of Microsoft 365 identity synchronization, focusing on Azure Active Directory Connect. You will learn how to plan and implement Azure AD Connect, how to manage synchronized identities, and how to implement password management in Microsoft 365 using multi-factor authentication and self-service password management. This section concludes with an overall view of application implementation and external access. You will then examine how to design and manage solutions for external access.
Next, in Microsoft 365 security management, you will examine the most common types of threat vectors and data breaches that organizations face today, and learn how Microsoft 365 security solutions address these security threats. You will be introduced to Microsoft Secure Score and Azure Active Directory Identity Protection. You will then learn how to manage Microsoft 365 security services, including Exchange Online Protection, Advanced Threat Protection, Safe Attachments, and Safe Links.
With Microsoft 365 security components now firmly in place, you will examine the key components of Microsoft 365 compliance management. This begins with an overview of all key aspects of data governance, including data archiving and retention, information rights management, the Secure/Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (S/MIME), Office 365 message encryption, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP). It will then dive deeper into archiving and retention, paying special attention to on-premises records management in SharePoint, archiving and retention in Exchange, and retention policies in the Security & Compliance Center.
Now that you understand the key aspects of data governance, you will examine how to implement them, including building barriers in Purview. After that, you will focus on managing data governance in Microsoft 365, including email retention, troubleshooting retention policies and failed policy suggestions, as well as resolving issues related to confidential data.
