PRINCE2® Foundation and Practitioner

Introduction

In 2017, AXELOS updated the PRINCE2® guide and launched new exams for the Foundation and Practitioner levels. This update is the most significant revision of PRINCE2 since 2009.

This course provides participants with a solid foundation in the new edition of PRINCE2® and detailed knowledge of all its capabilities.

As usual, the focus of this training is highlighting what makes projects successful and showing learners best practices in project management.

Objectives

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Understand the philosophy and structure of the PRINCE2® project management method
  • Understand the benefits that can be obtained by implementing PRINCE2®
  • Understand the principles, themes and process model of PRINCE2®
  • Identify the leading roles and responsibilities in the management of projects
  • To understand the importance of each of the activities in the implementation of projects
  • To know what documentation should be generated at the beginning of a project and how to do it
  • Identify the mechanisms for progress control
  • To see the quality management method used by PRINCE2®.
  • Learn how to apply the PRINCE2® change control mechanisms
  • Appreciate the importance of proper configuration management
  • Know the risk management approach of PRINCE2®.
  • Know how to adapt PRINCE2® to different project environments.
    • Apply and adjust the essential aspects of PRINCE2® themes in the context of a project.
    • Apply and adjust the critical elements of PRINCE2® processes in the context of a project.

Student profile

This course is for anyone who needs a deeper understanding of the PRINCE2® principles, process model and themes, and those who wish to obtain the official PRINCE2® Foundation and Practitioner certifications.

It is essential for those with extensive knowledge and even experience in project management but are unaware of an actual methodology that explains the vital fundamentals of project management.

This course is also very suitable for companies that frequently outsource internal or third-party projects. PRINCE2® shows how to delegate and manage projects from the customer’s point of view.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites, although attendees should have some knowledge and experience in project management.

Course Materials

Each participant will receive a copy of the documentation created by Netmind and a copy of the official PRINCE2® Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2® manual from AXELOS, both in English.

The documentation created by Netmind includes a case study with exercises related to each section of the exam, among other learning aids.

Methodology

The course includes the analysis and resolution of two samples of each exam. These models are used as guiding elements through which the knowledge acquired in the class is reviewed and expanded. It also helps to clarify all the students’ doubts regarding the use of PRINCE2® in real environments.

Certifications

At the end of the course, if the course is taken in OpenClass mode, students will receive two vouchers, one for each exam, to take the online Foundation and Practitioner exams. The exams are taken at the end of each module on paper. It is necessary to have passed the Foundation exam to take the Practitioner exam.
