Fundamentals of Project Management

Introduction

In an environment of continuous change, organizations need to have efficient and effective management of the projects they undertake to improve their competitiveness.

This course introduces students to the basics and best practices in project management that will allow them to manage projects with the highest guarantees of success, providing them with a homogeneous set of basic knowledge for effective management of projects.

The course provides an overview of the life cycle of project management by working with each of the five process groups defined in the Project Management Institute® (PMI®) PMBOK® Guide: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring/Controlling, and Closing.

The course is presented from the perspective of IT Project management, also introducing concepts of Agile Project Management.

Objectives

At the end of this course students will be able to:

  • Identify and understand the role of the Project Manager
  • Correctly defines the scope of a project
  • Design a viable and effective project plan
  • Adequately monitor the development of the project
  • Successfully close a project
  • Anticipate the events and risks of a project
  • Confront new situations in a project
  • Be able to adapt management methods and procedures to different types of projects

Student Profile

This course is designed for anyone who is participating or is going to participate in the execution of projects, regardless of their level of responsibility. Directors or novice project managers, analysts with responsibility for projects, team leaders, and, in general, anyone who should know the basics of carrying out a successful project.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites to attend this course.

Methodology

Engaging and interactive course. Our instructors teach all course materials using the demonstrative method; the participants learn new concepts through exercises and real application practices.

Certification

There isn’t an official certification associated with this course. However, students will earn 28 credit hours for their attendance.

Accreditation

A certificate of attendance will be issued to students who attend the course for at least 75% of the duration.
