Introduction

Practical implementation of the Kanban Method requires relatively little effort. It improves the delivery of legal services and facilitates change management towards agility. By attending the Legal Kanban Practitioner course, you can access certified training in the Kanban Method tailored to legal services operations, teams and organisations.

Through a simulation game and practical exercises, you will learn the basic concepts of the Kanban Method and understand the benefits of creating Kanban (pull) systems, learning to design Kanban boards at different levels for better visual management of services and conducting meetings focused on optimising management, introducing a culture of continuous improvement.

Objectives

At the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Understand and explain the basic concepts and principles of the Kanban Method.
  • Initially apply the 6 Practices of the Method in legal services.
  • Understand the pillars of building and designing Kanban (pull) systems.
  • Improve work management using Kanban boards at different levels.
  • Agree on work policies and conduct introductory meetings effectively.
  • Reduce people overload and other causes of low workflow efficiency.
  • Understand classes of service and define criteria for prioritising work.

Prerequisites

Attendees are expected to have some experience in legal service delivery and to have read “The Official Guide to the Kanban Method” or the book “Essential Kanban Condensed“.

Course Materials

Each student will receive a copy of the official Kanban University documentation according to the course content. Students will receive the e-book “Kanban: Successful Evolutionary Change for Your Technology Business” by David Anderson or a 50% discount coupon for “Kanban from the Inside” by Mike Burrows.

Methodology

Online, interactive and participative course. Participants will assimilate the knowledge through real application practices carried out during the course. The trainer will stimulate and guide the participants in the development of the practices, thus guaranteeing the fixation of the main concepts and tools.

Certification

This training is certified by Kanban University.

Accreditation

A certificate of attendance will be issued to students who attend the course for at least 75% of the duration.

  1. The origins of the Kanban Method and the relationship with Lean, Agile and Legal Project Management.
  2. The 3 Agendas or levels of motivation for the application of the Method: Sustainability, Customer Orientation and Survival.
  3. The Values to promote an evolutionary Change Management and Agile Culture for better results.
  4. The Principles of Change Management and Service Delivery in legal operations.
  5. The 6 Practices of the Kanban Method and the basic concepts applied to legal services.
  6. The design of Kanban boards at different levels and the design of Tickets to manage tasks.
  7. Conducting the three basic Team Meetings to improve work management.
  8. The basic metrics to understand the results of the system, anticipating and reducing risks to evolve.
  9. Introduction to STATIK (System Thinking Approach to Implement Kanban).
  10. The keys to a successful implementation with the Kanban Maturity Model.
